Fundraising Gala for Croydon Riot Victim

Posted on 21 November 201
Carla Rees

One of the most tragic stories to come out of the Croydon Riots was that of Carla Rees, an international flautist whose flat was deliberately burnt down. She lost 10 custom-built flutes and 600 musical manuscripts in the blaze, as well as learning that her two cats had perished in the fire.

The Opera and West End community want to extend their support to her and are having a gala concert at St Michael and All Angels Church, Croydon, CR0 1UA at 7:30pm on Friday, November 25.

All are welcome and entry is by donation, so that it is affordable for everyone. The event wants to help raise funds towards replacing Carla's lost equipment and music. The line-up of singers includes soloists from the Royal Opera House, English National Opera and the West End.
