Ian Fleming Musical Theatre Awards results announced

After a day of auditions, six talented young individuals have been awarded a total of £18,500 to help with the study costs of musical theatre courses.

The Ian Fleming Musical Theatre Awards are designed for postgraduates or final year undergraduate students on specialist musical theatre courses, and awards range from £2,000 to £5,000. After a day of auditions on Friday 24 June, a total of £18,500 was awarded to young musicians.

The students performed in front of an eminent panel including Tony Castro, who has had a successful career as a conductor, musical director, vocal coach and educator, Claire Moore, who has performed many major roles in the West End, Ian McMillan, one of the country’s leading conductors for stage and screen, and Graham Bickley (chair), who has performed numerous lead roles in the West End over the past twenty years.

This year’s recipients are Benjamin Yates and Daniel Clift from Arts Educational School London, Kate England from the London School of Musical Theatre, Alison Arnopp from the Royal College of Music, Robert Bardsley from University of Central Lancashire, and James Dryden from the Central School of Speech and Drama.
