19 year old Michael Petrov, recipient of the pretigious Guilhermina Suggia Gift 2009 performed to a sold-out Oxford Town Hall on Saturday 6 February. He had big shoes to fill in the form of Natalie Clein who could no longer perform in the concert and he did not disappoint.
He performed Prokofiev's challenging Sinfonia Concertante, with Oxford Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Robert Max. Giles Woodforde (Oxford Times) said Petrov seemed to “make light of every technical challenge.”
After his performance, he received the Suggia Gift from David Sulkin, Chief Executive of the Musicians Benevolent Fund.
