The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance have teamed up with microphone manufacturer Shure to launch the 2011 Songwriting Awards. The winner will be picked by acclaimed British band Everything Everything.
Any songwriter over the age of 16 who is looking to make a career in the music industry can enter the awards. The winner will take a large step towards achieving this by securing a place on the Institute's one year Professional Diploma in Songwriting course, worth over £5,000. In addition, two runners up will win some great gear from Shure.
Applicants must upload a video of themselves performing an original song to the Songwriting Award webpage before 8 April 2011. A combination of an expert panel of judges plus public voting will select a top 8, from which Everything Everything will choose the overall winner.
“We're thrilled to be judging the Shure Songwriting Award and work with the Institute this year", say Everything Everything. "Competitions such as this are vital for discovering and encouraging new musical talent and we can't wait to hear the entries.”
