Gifts in Wills
Gifts in Wills are vital to us. Every Gift in every Will, however large
or small, will make a lasting difference to musicians' lives. By remembering us in
your Will, you will be helping to provide the highest quality services
to musicians, both aspiring and established, for this and future
generations.

A message from Dame Janet Baker CH, DBE
"If music is not a luxury but a vital ingredient of your life, you will understand and respond to the needs of those musicians who are no longer able to serve their profession, the sick, the old, the forgotten."
Why leave a legacy?
As the UK's leading music charity, we care about music and musicians. If you do too, please consider supporting our work by leaving us a Gift in your Will.
Your Gift will directly support:
• Outstanding young musicians who aspire to enter the profession
• Music students with performance-related health problems
• Professional musicians who wish to explore new creative directions and build on existing skills
• Music professionals who hit a crisis in their lives such as an accident or illness
• Older Musicians and their dependants with the challenges that ageing can bring
Making your Will
Leaving a Gift in your Will is one of the most powerful and effective ways of supporting our work, and it is easy to do. If you have not yet made a Will, we recommend that you make an appointment with a solicitor. This does not need to be expensive.
To make a Gift in your Will to the Musicians Benevolent Fund, please make sure you include the following information:
• Our full charity name: Musicians Benevolent Fund
• Our registered charity number: 228089
• Our address: Musicians Benevolent Fund, 7-11 Britannia Street, London WC1X 9JS
• The type of Gift you wish to give
Types of Gifts
A common misconception is thinking that a Gift in your Will (also known as a ‘legacy’) has to be a large sum of money or the whole of your estate. This could not be further from the truth. In fact, every Gift in every Will, whatever the size, will make a real difference to our work.
Residuary Legacy - This is what is left of your estate once any debts, expenses and other legacies have been paid out. You can leave a percentage of what is left to the Fund, from 1% to 100%!
Pecuniary Legacy - A pecuniary legacy is a fixed sum of money, it can be of any amount. If you are considering leaving a pecuniary legacy, bear in mind that it is likely to decrease in value over a long period of time due to inflation.
Specific Legacy - This is a particular item, like a piece of jewellery, an instrument, a house or even royalties.
