Professional Development

To have your hand held...as
you reinvent your career path,
is not just vital but essential.

More for professionals »

Kate has worked as a freelance orchestral violinist for over fifteen years with numerous British orchestras and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra in the early 90s. She studied at the Royal Academy of Music as an Honorary Scholar with the late Manoug Parikian.

“ I believe these are particularly challenging times for freelance orchestral musicians and to have your hand held by such an organisation as the Musicians Benevolent Fund, as you reinvent your career path, is not just vital, but essential.”

In 2010, with our help, Kate went back to college and has recently graduated with an MMus in Creative Leadership from the Royal College of Music.

Kate says “The course has allowed me to discover my compositional voice, develop my experience of performing and improvising on the violin and perhaps most importantly, has taught me how to reflect on how I work, so that I may continue to develop and improve.”
