Stories of our work
VOCES8
The Musicians Benevolent Fund makes awards to emerging performing groups that are making a significant impact. In 2009, vocal ensemble VOCES8 received an award which they used to take part in a series of vocal masterclasses with critically acclaimed vocal group The King’s Singers, in Germany.

VOCES8 has established itself as the foremost young British a cappella group, performing repertoire ranging from early polyphony to unique jazz and popular arrangements. The group has had successes in many international competitions and tours extensively throughout Europe. They also play a key role in education and are part of the initiative Hatch My Ideas! which is run by Voces Cantabiles Music.
The masterclasses gave the group an opportunity to develop and experiment with new ideas to improve their performance.
“ We left the course with many new ideas about how to improve balance and blend, and also had plenty of time to discuss a multitude of artistic points. The greatest benefit was that we left with a united vision for the future. Thank you to the Musicians Benevolent Fund for providing us with this important opportunity and for making these inspirational masterclasses possible.”
2010 has been another busy and exciting year for the group and in September, they released their new album
Bach Motets. The response to the new record has been fantastic, with copies selling out within a week after hitting the shops. You can order your copy of the album now from
