Making Music Partnership

We are excited to be partnering Making Music in a new initiative offering Musicians Benevolent Fund award recipients the opportunity to perform at Making Music members’ events. Making Music represents and supports amateur and semi-professional music groups of all genres throughout the UK.

From its inception, the Musicians Benevolent Fund has benefited from the support of musicians in the amateur and semi-professional sectors. Through this partnership with Making Music we are looking forward to increasing this support and raising the profile of our work. At the same time, our major award recipients benefit from performance opportunities at a crucial stage in their development.

If you are a member of Making Music and would like to book one of our award recipients for a concert in aid of the Musicians Benevolent Fund, please take a look at the list of available artists below. We will be adding additional artists to the list over the next couple of months.

Please note that there is a limit of one booking per promoter, and that our award recipients have been asked to accept one engagement each at the reduced rate, although we are happy to approach them with further requests.

How to book

Once you have decided on the artist(s) you are interested in, follow the simple steps below:

Step 1

Fill in the booking form (below) and return it to the Awards Team at awards@helpmusicians.org.uk. The Awards Team will then contact the selected artist and check their availability for the date you requested. If your booking is successful you will be sent two copies of a contract for the engagement.

Step 2
Check through the details of the booking that appear on the contract. If you are happy with the arrangements, sign and return one copy.

Step 3
You should now make contact directly with your artist to agree your own contract and discuss arrangements for the concert.

Step 4
Once you have made a firm booking for one of the Musicians Benevolent Fund artists, you must ensure that you promote the Musicians Benevolent Fund on your publicity materials as agreed in the contract.

Step 5
At the concert you should display the fundraising materials sent to you by the awards team. Where appropriate, the artist will make a short announcement in support of the Musicians Benevolent Fund from the stage. At the end of the concert you should hold a collection in aid of the Fund.

Step 6
Your group should pay the artist a fee of £115 plus travel and accommodation as agreed, and an accompanist’s fee of £225 (if applicable) on the day of the concert as per the contract for the engagement. NB The reduced rate for the artist applies solely due to the artist making a commitment to help the Musicians Benevolent Fund with its fundraising campaign as part of receiving an award from the Fund.

Following the concert, your group should send the takings from the collection to the Fund, by cheque or bank transfer.
