I am studying music full-time but not anywhere on your list. Can I still apply?
I'm a singer. Will you be able to help me?
- Yes. If you need help for a problem which directly relates to your singing, you can apply.
I'm suffering from the same problem as a friend of mine; will you pay for the same treatment they had?
- No. Everybody is different and that is why the assessment by a BAPAM clinician is so important in making sure that you get the right treatment for you.
My course is part-time. Can I apply?
- No. This scheme is only currently available to those studying on full time courses.
I am suffering from performance anxiety and would like to see a counsellor. Can your grant be used for this?
- Yes. We know that stage-fright and anxiety can affect your performance and our grant can be used towards counselling fees.
I'm a cellist and I fell off my bike and broke my ankle. Can I get a grant for physiotherapy?
- No. Our grant can only be used for treatment directly related to your ability to play your instrument.
I play the flute and I fell off my bike and broke my thumb. Can I get a grant for physiotherapy?
- Yes. Because your injury affects your playing, you can apply for a grant.
You gave me a grant of £500 but I still need further treatment. Can I get more help?
- No. Our grant is intended as a contribution towards treatment costs and £500 is the maximum we can give you.
I’ve recently finished my studies. Can I still apply for a grant?
- No. Our grant is for full-time students. But if you are now working full-time as a professional musician we may be able to help. Contact care@helpmusicians.org.uk outlining your circumstances.
I am a singer and need to have my wisdom teeth removed/need some fillings. Can you help?
- No. We are unable to help with routine dental work.
I have been offered a post-graduate place but can’t afford to take it up. Can you help with this?
