How to apply

Woman playing flute

In order to apply to the student health scheme, you must first make an appointment with a BAPAM clinician who will carry out an independent assessment of your condition and suggest what action you could take to improve, or manage, your situation. If you need further treatment, BAPAM's doctor will advise you about appropriate practitioners, who may practice on the NHS or privately. If you are advised to see a practitioner who charges a fee, then we may be able to help with these costs.

We value very highly the independent specialist knowledge that BAPAM is able to offer. Please note that we are not able to pay for any treatment unless it is supported by BAPAM.

In order to apply to the scheme, please follow carefully the steps below.

Step 1:
Download an application form, complete page 1 and get it signed and stamped by the relevant person at your institution (see list below).

Step 2:
Contact BAPAM on 0845 602 0235 to register as a BAPAM patient and to arrange an appointment at your nearest clinic.

Step 3:
Please take your application form with you to your appointment as if they recommend further treatment, the BAPAM clinician will need to fill out page 2 with details of your condition and their advice.

Step 4:
If the clinician recommends further treatment and you need help with the cost of this, please submit your application to the Musicians Benevolent Fund. Please make sure that the form has been completed in full and that you have signed it. We will review your application and aim to respond with our decision within 5 working days.
