The programme and what it offers

The National Grants Programme is part of Help Musicians UK’s wider Creative Programme, which creates opportunities for and empowers musicians to have successful careers.

We want to help all professional musicians to grow, develop and to have sustainable careers, and create a highly skilled and talented music workforce/economy across the whole of the UK. We realise that there are many regionally and nationally based organisations that are well placed to help us meet these aims, and this programme provides grants to support organisations for three years.

The basics

  • Funding of between £5,000 and £40,000 per year for three years.
  • Open to charitable organisations or not-for-profit companies
  • Organisations of any size and turnover can apply
  • For new or existing projects
  • All genres of music
  • All areas of the UK
  • Open to organisations working with musicians from diverse backgrounds

What we fund

We are primarily interested in funding activity which offers timely and relevant opportunities for musicians to develop their talent, skills and artistic practice at any stage in their careers. All musicians benefitting from the initiative should be over the age of 18 and either UK residents or have been resident in the UK for at least 3 years.

In addition to the development of individual musicians, HMUK is interested in the growth and development of organisations working in the music sector. We wish to invest in organisations where innovation is supported and progressive services and opportunities for musicians are delivered. We are interested in funding organisations to work with others to develop new innovative collaborations, partnerships and local and regional networks, and initiatives which lead to stronger, longer-term futures for organisations working in music.
