Born in 1995, British violinist Annalise Lam studied classical violin at the University of Bristol and at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama’s Junior conservatoire course. During her studies, she was awarded the Bristol City Waits award from the Lord Mayor of Bristol and also the JH Britton Fund prize from the University of Bristol. More recently, she was awarded a place on the prestigious postgraduate jazz course, at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she will study Jazz Violin from September 2018. She is grateful to be supported by a postgraduate award from Help Musicians UK.

During her time at the University of Bristol, Annalise studied violin with Rodger Huckle and has performed with the University of Bristol Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra. She is the leader of the Compass Quartet, and they have performed at function gigs around Bristol University and also as part of the Bristol University Music Society lunchtime concerts. She also plays in local orchestras, including the Bristol Metropolitan Orchestra and the Brunel Sinfonia. 

Apart from classical music, she enjoys playing jazz violin around the Bristol jazz scene. She has performed at various festivals, including Bestival and Ealing Jazz Festival and venues such as Colston Hall. She has also participated on various jazz courses, including the Advanced Jazz course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
