BLUESFORTHEHORN is an East-London-British-Somali-Muslim-Female R&B singer and songwriter, fusing the heart of Tamia with the spirit of Lauryn Hill. As a songwriter, she writes about the everyday experiences of others and her own. Her artist name Bluesforthehorn (BLUES FOR THE HORN) represents her identity and passion for music. '’Blues” refers to the first genre she fell in love with and chose to categorise her music in. “The horn” represents the Horn of Africa, which refers to Somalia, her origins. Being a British-Somali woman from East London, she has used my culture to inspire and connect the diaspora community in the UK. Her identity has played a major role in bridging both cultures together which has influenced her music, especially with songwriting. She would describe her sound as soulful, timeless and nostalgic sounds of the 90s and 2000 R&B.
She successfully self-released my debut EP “Finna Touch A Beach” in 2018. The singles “Insecurities” and “Summertime Fall” were supported by DJ Ace (BBC Radio 1 XTRA), Capital XTRA and Worldwide FM. Also, it was listed as “Jamz EP Top 5” by DJ Jamz Supernova. She has supported the likes of [K S R] at The Waiting Room in London and Yazmin Lacey on her UK tour in February 2020.
Earlier this year she successfully released her first feature single called “Know Me Better” with Italian producer MadD3e. “Know Me Better” was playlisted on Editorial Spotify’s “Ready For The Day”, Deezer’s Chill playlist and received her first TV Sync for the song on CBS: NCIS LA.
Her new EP will promise to deliver an RnB and Jazz inspired sound which is anticipated to be released late 2020, early 2021. She is working with a diverse range of upcoming session players, emerging musicians and producers from all across London. The EP will reflect her growth as a singer and songwriter, address personal vulnerabilities and curate a timeless RnB sound.
