Soprano Chrisni Mendis is currently studying the Master of Music course at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland under the tutelage of Wilma MacDougall. Chrisni is a grateful recipient of the Help Musicians UK Ian Fleming Award and is supported by the RCS scholar. Her operatic performances include Leila (Les Peacheurs de pearles), Arabella (Arabella), Marzelline (Fidelio), Micaela from Bizet’s Carmen, Alice from Verdi’s Falstaff , Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro) and Ännchen (Der Freischütz). She has also performed in Prokofiev’s The Fiery Angel (Scottish Opera), Bizet’s Pearl Fishers (Opera Bohemia) and Die Fledermaus (RCS Opera)Chrisni looks forward to covering Rose Marrant in the upcoming production of Street Scene at the Alexander Gibson Opera School. She has also recently been accepted to Clonter Opera Studio and the Berlin Opera Academy to perform in their upcoming operas this coming year. Additionally she is also very excited to be part of a new production of Cabildo coming up this summer. At the RCS, Chrisni has been Highly Commended in the 2017 Edgar Spedding Lieder Competition. She has also won the Colombo Music Festival award for Young Classical Singers.
