Gemma Riley is currently in her fourth year at the Royal College of Music, London studying under professors Lindsay Shilling, Byron Fulcher, Matt Knight and Becky Smith. Prior to attending the Royal College of Music, Gemma studied in Manchester at Chetham’s School of Music from 2012 until 2017. In September she will begin a Postgraduate Degree at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where she has been awarded a scholarship to study on the Orchestral Artistry course in association with the London Symphony Orchestra. Gemma has received training through schemes with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, English National Opera, BBC Philharmonic and the Philharmonia. Some of her achievements include BBC Young Musician Brass Finalist in 2016, the Arthur Wilson Trombone Award at the RCM as well as a 3rd place in the Concerto Competition and the Trombone prize for the 2020 Solo Brass Competition. Her studies are generously support by Help Musicians.
Help Musicians' support has allowed me to continue to study the trombone for a further two years at the Guildhall and progress towards my goal of being a professional trombone player. I am very grateful for their generosity.
