British/German soprano Lara Marie Müller is on the Opera course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama studying with John Evans. She holds a BA Music with honours and an MMus in Music from Guildhall. Prior to studying at Guildhall she studied acting on the Foundation Course at the Oxford School of Drama. She was brought up and went to school in Holland where her father is the principal cellist in the Netherlands radio philharmonic orchestra.
Lara is a Garsington Opera Alvarez Young artist and made her debut as Papagena in Die Zauberflöte at Garsington last summer. She has also covered the roles of Caridad in The Skating Rink by David Sawer and Yniold in Pelléas et Melisande.
Lara recently made her debut in The Netherlands as part of the Raadhuisconcerten series in Hilversum with Gary Beecher.
Recent roles at Guildhall (scenes): Adele, Die Fledermaus, Echo, Ariadne auf Naxos, Norina, Don Pasquale, Vixen, The Cunning Little Vixen, Melisande, Pelléas et Melisande, Serpetta, La finta Giardiniera, Oberto, Alcina. Awards include: 2017 Simon Sandbach Garsington Opera Award, the Paul Hamburger prize and Wyburd Prize for Lied at Guildhall.
This season at Garsington she sang the role of Esmeralda in The Bartered Bride by Smetana. In August she will premiere the role of the Happy Princess in a new commission for Garsington youth opera. The piece is called ‘The Happy Princess’ composed by Paul Fincham with a libretto by Jessica Duchen.
