British conductor Matthew Scott Rogers has recently completed four seasons on the conducting staff of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. As a member of the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme he has conducted both the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House and the Orchestra of Opera North on the main stage, and joined the music staff of The Royal Opera working with conductors such as Antonio Pappano, Andris Nelsons, Dan Ettinger and Nicola Luisotti. Engagements before joining the Programme included conducting for The Royal Ballet on the Company’s tours to Japan in summer 2016 and New York in 2015.

Upcoming highlights in 18/19 include Mefistofele at the Southbank Centre, Sancta Susanna, Madama Butterfly at Sofia National Opera and Cosi fan tutte with the Covent Garden Chamber Orchestra. Recent engagements have included Samson et Dalila with Chelsea Opera Group, the London International Guitar Competition finals at Milton Court, Newham Philharmonic at the Barbican, a tour to Bucharest with the BBC Concert Orchestra and as assistant conductor to Vladimir Jurowski and the London Philharmonic.

Rogers came to international attention in July 2015 when he made his Lincoln Center debut conducting the New York City Ballet Orchestra at the David H Koch theatre, followed by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra as a member of the prestigious Symphony Services International Conductor Development Program. Other orchestras he has conducted include the Tokyo City Philharmonic, Osaka Symphony Orchestra, Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, Berlin Sinfonietta, Komische Oper, Southbank Sinfonia, Rambert Ballet Orchestra, and Winslow Hall Opera.

Increasingly established as a composer, he has had recent premieres by members of the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House and the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme.
