Sam is a composer, sound artist & musician based in Cardiff, Wales. In recent years, he has composed music for performance, theatre, film & television with productions for the BBC & S4C (Hinterland / Y Gwyll, Hidden / Craith), and National Theatre Wales (Iliad, Storm.1, Tide Whisperer).

Sam’s love for music developed as a child when he started receiving guitar lessons, and his interests soon turned towards a 4-track cassette tape recorder as a tool for composition. Originally from North Wales, he moved in 2010 to study Creative Music Technology at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, during which time he created sound installations for exhibitions, theatre productions and short films. After graduating in 2014, he gained freelance work as a composer, sound artist and recording engineer, and later that year was awarded the Oxford / Sennheiser Electronic Music Prize.

He currently holds a writing position on the creative team at John Hardy Music and performs with bands Boy Azooga and Shoebox Orchestra.
