Caro C is a composer, producer and performer, and a recent recipient of Help Musicians’ Transmission Fund, which supported her unique development needs and allowed her to progress as a music creator. Enabled by our funding, here she explains why her time with creative coach Heidi Chadwick is a great example of just how bespoke the Transmission Fund’s support can be.
I am so grateful to have received the Help Musicians’ Transmission Fund at a point in my career when I felt a bit stuck with my own art. I’m a self-taught composer, producer and performer, with a background in electronic music. My work is creativity-based and largely intuitive. I learned my craft mostly in isolation, feeling my way and learning the techniques and tools available to me.
That’s why I applied to use a grant for 1:1 coaching with Heidi Chadwick, who came highly recommended by a fellow artist. It has been a deeply nourishing and illuminating experience, one that has left me with a renewed sense of purpose in my work. These sessions have taught me many lessons that I’d like to share in hope that they could benefit and inspire other artists, too, to forge ahead.
The most valuable of these have been using self-awareness and self-compassion to enhance my creative path, uncovering my core values, reminding myself how I embody them through my music, and redefining and reaffirming my goals as an independent artist.
I hope that sharing these learnings can be of help to fellow musicians and creative professionals. It’s a fantastic path, rich with learning opportunities, but not without its challenges. That’s why support, like that offered by Help Musicians’ Transmission Fund, is vital to enabling us to share the power of music with others.
