Global live music brand Sofar Sounds and investment management firm Signia have announced that multi-platinum, award-winning artist Emeli Sandé will headline a charity gig in aid of Help Musicians.
The intimate show with 4x BRIT Award winner Emeli Sandé to an audience of just 100, will take place on Monday, 17 June at a secret location. The show will launch the ‘Sofar x Signia in aid of Help Musicians’ series, that will continue throughout the year, taking place in landmark venues with household names and emerging artists.
Emeli Sandé said: “I’m honoured to be kicking off this fantastic series of ‘Sofar x Signia in aid of Help Musicians’ gigs. Supporting the wellbeing of musicians is a cause close to my heart and when I was asked to take part I jumped at the chance, I can’t wait!”
Joining Emeli on the bill will be Help Musicians supported artist Love Ssega. The fast-rising south London songwriter received funding through the charity’s popular Fusion Fund last year. His grant took him to Cardiff Bay Docks to work with Welsh-Indian director Tina Pasotra on a project exploring themes of migration and developing his skills in creating soundtracks.
The concert will be one of the most high profile shows to raise funds for Help Musicians yet and will precede the release of Emeli’s highly anticipated third album.
The ticket ballot for the June 17 performance is now open and can be accessed here.
Belinda Dee, Director of Fundraising, Help Musicians UK said “Help Musicians would like to thank Signia, Sofar Sounds and Emeli Sandé, who all understand the importance of the vital work that we do for musicians. We are grateful for their support, with all proceeds from this event going straight to the frontline to help even more musicians. 2018 saw a larger than ever demand for Help Musicians' support and services across both creative development and health and welfare issues, highlighting the growing need amongst musicians. This trend is set to continue so we really value the generous help of our supporters, allowing the charity to continue making a meaningful difference to the lives of musicians, so that they thrive, not just survive.”
Dan O’Neill, Head of Signia Creative said “Signia are thrilled to be partnering with Sofar Sounds and Help Musicians on this exciting series of shows. When the idea of a philanthropically focused, live gig series was first hatched within Signia Creative, we never dreamt we would have the pleasure of working with Emeli on our first show – so a big thank you has to go to Emeli and her team for their support. Love Music, Help Musicians.”
Tom Lovett, Global Commercial Director at Sofar Sounds said “Sofar Sounds is incredibly excited to help put on a gig in support of such a worthy cause. Help Musicians is a fantastic organization and one that Sofar is proud to be associated with.”
