Launched in May, the scheme has now supported 20 acts with more than £50,000 of funding. Many of the artists have already smashed their campaign target, with a swathe of new releases and touring projects in the pipeline. With a particularly strong showing from singer-songwriters, the artists represent a range of genres and hail from across the UK. The selected artists impressed the panel with the quality of their music as well as showing they were ready to run a direct-to-fan campaign. The funding from Help Musicians UK will help to finance extra creative or promotional activity.
With support from the fund, first round artist Elf Kid recently launched his single Golden Boy which was picked up by NME, played in 100 countries by Zane Lowe on Beats 1 Radio and selected by Annie Mac as her Track of the Week on BBC Radio 1.
