In September Help Musicians UK is heading to Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg, for a special showcase with some incredible artists. Joining HMUK will be friends Karousel Music; a London based collective of musicians, songwriters and music industry professionals. American company SESAC (Society of European Stage Authors and Composers) will also be joining.
Reeperbahn Festival is arguably one of the best new music festivals in Europe and we are delighted to be putting on a showcase with some fantastic emerging artists and bands. It has never been so important for emerging acts to break into new markets. The showcase will be a great platform for our acts to play in front of a new audience and get a chance to play in a city made famous by the Beatles learning their trade.
The showcase will be on Friday 23 September at headCRASH. HMUK are taking two acts, Pat Dam Smyth and REWS, with performances from Ten Fé, Joel Sakakula, Flight Brigade and The Wholls on the night too.
Patrick Dam Smyth is a London based Northern Irish singer/songwriter. His music is a collection of thoughts on his travels, loves and losses, drawing on Beck, Bowie and Lou Reed. 2015 saw him playing at Liverpool Sound City, The Great Escape and Hamburg’s Reeperbahn Festivals – where the organisers dubbed him the Best of Showcase for his performance. His debut album, The Great Divide, made with support from Pledge Music and Help Musicians UK has already received acclaim by the Irish music industry, The Independent, The Daily Mirror and the BBC.
REWS are a Belfast/London duo. With Shauna Tohill on guitars & vocals (she’s been singing for Snow Patrol and bass playing for Darwin Deez) and Collette Williams providing beats and vocals (she’s currently drumming in the new Gabrielle Aplin video). Formed last year in 2015 - REWS have released three chorus-laden singles since the beginning of this year. "Can You Feel it?" catchy garage pop, followed by "Death Yawn" and "Shake ShaKe". There will be an EP in September followed by an album in February 2017.
REWS have done the rounds at British festivals this year including; The Great Escape 2016, Glastonbury, Beautiful Days, Kendal Calling, Goldcoast and many others. The band has been presented by “BBC Introducing” in Belfast, London and Wales and with a full UK Ireland tour for the autumn followed by dates in Europe in 2017 the REWS are taking the music industry by storm.
