Help Musicians UK (HMUK) is proud to announce its return to Reeperbahn Festival, Hamburg, Germany, for a third year running, where it will once again partner with Karousel Music to showcase six new acts and bring the industry together for networking drinks on Friday September 21.
Industry conference and showcase festival Reeperbahn continues to be a cornerstone in the music business calendar, offering an influential global stage for new talent and a powerful platform for industry discussion.
As part of HMUK’s involvement it will co-host a pre-show mixer event with Karousel Music, US Performing Rights Organisation SESAC, and fan engagement and monetisation platform Leaf, from 5pm which welcomes all delegates to come together for some exclusive performances.
With artists firmly at the core of the programme, six exciting new acts will be performing from 7pm at the central headCRASH venue and promise a night of inspiring talent from across the genre spectrum.
Christine Brown, External Affairs Director HMUK, says:
“Help Musicians UK is committed to supporting and developing the professional careers of musicians across genres and lifestages. As part of this, we are delighted to partner once again with Karousel Music and invest in showcasing opportunities for this fine line-up of British talent on the incredibly influential global stage that Reeperbahn provides.”
Chris Sheehan, CEO Karousel Music, says:
“This is Karousel Music’s fifth year putting on a show at the festival, and our third with HMUK. We genuinely believe this is the best new music showcase out there, anywhere, for its organisation, diversity of acts, conference program, warmth of audience and ability to help the artists find deals that can take them international. We’re delighted HMUK are part of it, alongside our friends at US collection giants SESAC, and future thinking audience development specialists Leaf.”
Artists performing on the night are:
Lydmor’s shows display brutal honesty that comes across both in her pumping rhythmical electro sounds as well as her emotional dreamy side. Refreshingly unique despite comparisons to the likes of Grimes, Kate Bush and Björk.
Austrian-born London-based singer-songwriter Anna F. combines her wonderfully delicate and fragile voice with a super fresh take on grungy guitars and driving rough beats. Reminiscent of indie-rock classics yet a sound of her own.
20:40 Be Charlotte
Be Charlotte is a young songwriter from Dundee, Scotland. Her music is an extension of her personality. Her songs are explorative, unconventional and undeniably pop with immediately recognisable vocals.
Scottish band Fatherson immediately captured hearts with their raw, honest alt-rock sound. Debut album I Am An Island and its 2016 follow-up Open Book were masterclasses in full-throttle rock songwriting, and garnered support from fellow artists and press.
Rapper Kwame Mensah and producer Peter Hakola, AKA Makola, have their roots in Finland and Ghana but their exhilarating sound, an irrepressible explosion of hip-hop and afrobeat, could only ever have been forged in London.
Being apolitical and disengaged with reality has for the past few years been the trend. LIFE buck this trend and through their undying passion and unquestionable determination offer a very real alternative, they “provide” a voice for the disengaged.
