Jacqueline du Pré Concert triumph

Last night, on Tuesday 5 May, supporters of the Musicians Benevolent Fund were treated to an outstanding performance by the revered duo Guy Johnston, cello, and Tom Poster, piano, at the 18th Annual Jacqueline du Pré Concert.

Held at Wigmore Hall, the venue was brimming with excitement as Guy and Tom played their way through a programme of works by Debussy, Bridge and Britten, including a rare juvenilia piece written by Britten during his youth.

Guy Johnston kindly offered for his recent CD Milo to be sold in return for donations to the Musicians Benevolent Fund and consequently over £670 was raised from the collection following the concert.

We and all the audience members thoroughly enjoyed being a part of this night, which was held in memory of Jacqueline du Pré. Jacqueline was one of the greatest cellists of her generation, whose career was cut short by multiple sclerosis aged 42, and these concerts have aided medical and music charities since 1996.

Thank you to everyone who supported the concert for what was an evening for all to remember.
