Next Monday 21 March we’re supporting Karousel Music with their first music industry ‘speed-dating’ event of 2016 at The Phoenix Club, London.
This popular night of networking and music showcases gives the opportunity for aspiring artists, managers and music professionals a chance to meet industry experts and build contacts.
The key experts include:
- Alex Branson & Nisha Vadiavaloo - Ingrooves
- Paul Barton, Joe Morrison & Anna Mason – PledgeMusic
- Justin Barker – Slice Media
- Danny Keir – Sound Diplomacy
- Mandy Parnell – Black Saloon Mastering
- Sam Taylor - Tunecore
- Sacha Taylor-Cox – Impressive PR
- Halina Wielogorska – Clintons Solicitors
- Tania Woodcock – Wixen Music UK
- Christine Brown – Help Musicians UK
- Paul Pacifico & Irini Mando – Featured Artist Coalition
The event finishes with a three-act showcase with Emerging Artists Fund recipients Pat Dam Smyth and He Is A Pegasus. Joel Sarakula will also be performing.
We spoke with Chris Sheehan, Director of Karousel Music. He said “Everything we do at Karousel is formed around the experiences we had as artists. I remember what it was like as an unsigned artist moving to London, knowing nobody. With more and more artists taking the DIY route, contacts and networks are more important than ever, so we try and put on as many events as we can that can bring artists into contact with the people who keep the music business ticking over.
The point of the event on the 21st is to give an opportunity for artists and musicians to meet up with their peers, sharing experiences and contacts; but also to get some face time with people at the top of their game who can give them some insights into how things work, as well as setting up some potential deals if they’re at that stage. We also hope that any musicians who are thinking of moving over into the industry side (maybe you’re the drummer and are also going to manage a band; maybe injury means you’re retiring from playing live, etc) can gather some valuable insight and contacts.”
