Help Musicians UK has teamed up with the new North East festival and conference, Tipping Point Live, which is set to take place in Ouseburn, Newcastle, from 21-22 June.
Tipping Point Live is the new-and-improved 2019 iteration of Newcastle’s go-to music event of the year, Evolution Emerging, and will feature performances and showcases from a multi-genre line-up, commissions, film screenings, masterclasses, panels, workshops and more.
As part of the collaboration, Help Musicians UK will present one of the conference’s key panels on Friday 21 June at 11:45am called ‘Futureproofing DIY artists’, which will examine what kind of support musicians need in the 21st century to thrive. Amazing Radio’s Rianne Thompson, Come Play With Me founder Tony Ereira and Dead Naked Hippies’ Lucy Jowett will join Help Musicians UK’s Creative Programme Officer Joe Danher for a discussion on how independent artists can best navigate the music industry.
The charity will also host a roundtable event at the conference, ‘Understanding Needs in the North – Have your say’, which invites all music creators at Tipping Point Live to join an interactive session to explore the rich musical ecosystem in the north of England (register your interest here). Tipping Point Live goers can also pre-book or drop-in for a 1:1 consultation session with Help Musicians UK staff for tips and advice on how to apply for funding - contact firstname.lastname@example.org to book your slot.
