We are thrilled to announce that soprano Anna Devin will perform a recital with Oxford Lieder Festival at the Holywell Music Room on 30 July as the SongCycle 2016 riders cycle into Oxford. She will then join the ride from Oxford to London the following day.
Anna will perform alongside mezzo Katie Bray and accompanist Sholto Kynoch. All proceeds from the recital will go towards SongCycle 2016.
Anna is widely admired for her strong stage presence, vocal control and musical intelligence, she has performed on operatic and concert stage throughout Europe and the U.S. including Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and Teatro alla Scala, Milan. Recent highlights her debuts with La Scala and the Vienna Philharmonic; role and festival debut as Galatea in Handel’s Acis and Galatea at Mozartwoche Salzburg; role debut as Nannetta at Covent Garden; Susanna with the Welsh National Opera; Michal in Glyndebourne Touring Opera’s production of Saul.
We caught up with Anna and she said:
"Im super excited to join SongCycle by welcoming the cycling troops to Oxford with some pretty songs and joining the team for the last leg into London. Having done most of my riding on a spin bike or a horse, I'm hoping it will transfer to the road, and I will manage to walk the next day.
This is a brilliant opportunity to have some fun and give back to a charity who helped me in the early days of my career and who continue to help not only classical musicians but all genres across the UK. Having the marathon role of Susanna from Mozart's Nozze di Figaro as a signature role will hopefully give me the will to keep pedaling."
Catch Anna at Hollywell Music Hall on Saturday 30 July at 5pm. All proceeds will go towards SongCycle 2016.
