They’re off! Our SongCycle riders set off from Glasgow

They’re off! Our cycling superstars set off from Glasgow yesterday morning in true operatic style. Before jumping on their bikes to brave the elements, they were treated to a fantastic send off at the Scottish Opera Connect Company studios, including a marvellous song which you can watch below.

As the team navigated out of Glasgow, they reach Biggar last night, refuelling & resting. This morning they are on a steady stride enroute to Hawick.

If you happen to be in the key pit-stops along the way, you’ll be treated to a number of performances.

On Tuesday 26 July there will be an ‘In Conversation’ talk on ‘The Fit & Functional Singer’ with Samling Academy and the SongCycle team. Following this, internationally acclaimed soprano Keri Fuge will perform a recital. Both of these events will take place at The Northern Rock Foundation Hall at Sage Gateshead.

Further down the route, SongCycle soprano Mary Bevan will give a special masterclass at the Barber Institute Concert Hall, part of Birmingham University. This will take place on Friday 29 July from 2.45pm and is free to attend.

As the team jet towards London, they’ll stop off in Oxford on Saturday 30 July where Anna Devin & guests will perform an intimate concert for the Oxford Lieder Festival. This will take place at the Holywell Music Room from 5pm.

For more information on where the team will be, visit the SongCycle 2016 page.

We need your help! Please give generously and cheer on our brave cyclists.
