Borrowing her moniker from the legendary pirate Aruba Red; a strong, rebellious female seafarer. Aruba Red the artist strives to evoke her resilient spirit. To date, she has worked and toured with the likes of Nitin Sawnhey, Maverick Sabre, Jah Cure, Natty, Xavier Rudd, Phil Manzanera, Ms Dynamite, Plan B and Riz Ahmed. Aruba Red has held residencies at London's Roundhouse and Southbank Centre as well as hitting the stage at festivals and venues nationwide and overseas.
After a recent hiatus, she re-emerged with her EP ‘Holy Waters’. The independent offering reached an impressive #7 on iTunes RnB/Soul Albums Chart. Holy Waters is a musically rich, lyrically impressive celebration of feminine strength. Futuristic soul with an edge, fresh vibes fused with ancient wisdom, leaving you feeling uplifted.
Using all the powers the universe has to offer with an ethereal vibe, Aruba Red seamlessly provides inspiration revolving around themes of healing and transformation, acting as a campfire for anyone who needs the warmth.
Aruba Red’s brand-new critically acclaimed EP ‘Shadow Work’ has landed and coincided with her magical debut headline concert which took place on the 11th March at the iconic St. Pancras Old Church. During the current lock-down period, Aruba is focussing on providing virtual guided meditations to support her online community, producing a live album release as well as writing for her forthcoming studio album. Aruba Red is also a writer, public speaker and women's circle facilitator.
Aruba Red was also supported by the Transmission Fund in 2019.
I will be using this grant to complete the production for an exciting live audio and visual release from my recent debut headline show at St Pancras Old Church, so that people can experience the concert from wherever they are in the world. The grant will go towards mixing and mastering, editing the visuals, artwork, PR and paying the musicians in my band for their involvement. This opportunity is a real creative lifeline right now!
