Born in Milan, Italy, Davide Levi studied violin and conducting at the Conservatorio G. Verdi in Milan. After graduating in 2013, Davide moved to London to work as assistant and cover conductor for the Royal Ballet. Inevitably, working at the Royal Opera House ignited his passion for opera.
Since then, Davide has worked with some of the finest orchestras and opera houses in Europe, including Oper Leipzig, Garsington Opera, Orchestra Sinfonica Abruzzese, I Pomeriggi Musicali, Orchestra La Verdi, the Jenaer Philharmonie, the Hebrides Ensemble and the Britten-Pears Orchestra.
Recent operatic highlights include performances of La Traviata, Così fan tutte, Carmen, L'impresario in angustie, Fairy Queen and a double bill of Cavalleria Rusticana and Rossini's La Cambiale di Matrimonio.
In 2019, Davide assisted Ulf Schirmer on Oper Leipzig's highly acclaimed new production of Puccini's La Fanciulla del West and Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen. In 2020, he will return to Garsington Opera as assistant conductor on Verdi's Un Giorno di Regno and to Leipzig for another Ring Cycle.
He is the 2019/2020 Sir Charles Mackerras Conducting Fellow at Trinity Laban and the recipient of a Jerwood Performing Arts Bursary.
