We know that as a musician, it can often feel like you’re walking a tightrope. When things are good, they’re great, but when problems come up, it can be tough to know what to do. At those times, the right support makes all the difference.

We can work with you in a range of ways to help in times of difficulty. Our wellbeing support focuses on two areas:

  • Physical wellbeing: Support related to health and physical wellbeing, where illness or injury are impacting your ability to work or perform
  • Financial wellbeing: Support to alleviate hardship and help you prepare for your financial future

What support are you eligible for?

The support we can provide depends on your personal circumstances, and where you are in your career in music.

Services are available for, and tailored to, four musician groups.

  • Student musicians: Musicians aged 18 or over, studying or intending to commence a course of study in the coming September in an eligible music subject at an eligible music institution.
  • Early Career musicians: Musicians aged 18 or over who can evidence that they have earned over £500 from music in the 12 months before applying.
  • Working musicians: Musicians aged 20 and over who are not students, and who have earned at least 40% of their income from music in the 24 months before applying. Must also have earned at least £5,000 from music in the last 12 months before applying.
  • Retired musicians: Musicians who are state retirement age or above, receive their primary income from a pension, and since the age of 18 have worked for at least 5 years in music, earning at least 40% of their income from music in that time.

Full eligibility information for each service is on the pages below. In addition, please read our charity eligibility policy before applying. Please note that if you have a disability, our eligibility criteria are different, and can be found in the eligibility policy.
