Hailing from Derbyshire, Baritone Edward Jowle is in his first year of postgraduate study at the Royal College of Music, studying with Russell Smythe and Gary Matthewman, having previously studied there as an undergraduate with Tim Evans-Jones. His undergraduate studies were supported by the Soirée d’Or fund and the Sir Henry Wood Trust. An RCM Scholar, his postgraduate studies are also supported by Help Musicians UK and the Josephine Baker Trust. He previously studied at the Junior Royal Northern College of Music with Louise Winter and David Jones where he was supported by the Leverhulme Trust.
Recent Operatic work includes: Papageno (Die Zauberflöte/La Flûte Enchantée) for Westminster Opera/Château de Panloy, France; Snug (A Midsummer Night's Dream) for the Royal College of Music International Opera School; Masetto (Don Giovanni), Scythe (Iphigénie en Tauride) and Dr Grenvil (La Traviata) for Euphonia Studio; Elviro (Serse) for Accademia Europea Dell’Opera, Italy; Alidoro (La Cenorentola) for London Young Sinfonia/Bedford Park Festival; Cecil (Maria Stuarda) for Magnetic Opera/Edinburgh Festival Fringe; Argante (Rinaldo) and Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro) for RCM scenes; Geneticist (Our Perfect Child, premiere) for RCMIOS/Tête-à-Tête; Despard (Ruddigore) and Pirate King (The Pirates of Penzance) for Grosvenor Light Opera Company. As part of the English Touring Opera Autumn 2017 season, Edward sang Baritone Chorus in the UK premiere of Dardanus and covered Curio in Giulio Cesare.
Recent Concert engagements include: St Joseph in Berlioz L'enfance du Christ for Scherzo Ensemble; Finzi Let us Garlands bring for the East London Symphony Orchestra; Bach Lutheran Mass in G major for the City Music Society; Mozart Requiem for the Orchestre Symphonique de Canet et Rousillon, France; Mozart Mass in C major for Solihull Choral; Christus in the Bach St John Passion for Prestbury Choral Society.
Acting work includes Lomov/Narrator/Smirnov (Chekhov Tripple Bill: The Proposal/On the Evils of Tobacco/The Bear) for Euphonia Studio. 
Edward has worked with conductors including Michael Rosewell, Jonathan Peter Kenny, Natalie Murray Beale and Jonathan Williams, as well as directors including Iqbal Khan, James Conway, Liam Steel, Bill Bankes-Jones, Douglas Rintoul and Rodula Gaitanou. He has participated in masterclasses with Dr Ron Morris, Lynne Dawson, Sir Thomas Allen and Patricia MacMahon. He received the Vocal Chamber Music Prize at the JRNCM and was named Best Male Voice at the 2015 International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival.
Future performances include: Gendarme (Les Mamelles de Tirésias) for Euphonia Studio/Rye Arts Festival, Falke (Die Fledermaus) with the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore and Adonis (Venus and Adonis) for Brighton Early Music Festival.
