Elina Bennett is a recently graduated flautist from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, where she studied with Sarah Newbold and Jonathan Burgess. Supported by Help Musicians UK, she will be continuing her studies with Philippa Davies and Ian Clarke on the Orchestral Artistry Masters course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, in association with the London Symphony Orchestra.
Her orchestral experience includes extra work with the Welsh National Opera Orchestra, outreach with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, playing principal flute doubling piccolo and alto flute in RWCMD's production of Britten’s Albert Herring, and playing frequently in the RWCMD symphony orchestra.
As a passionate chamber musician she has performed with a variety of ensembles, ranging from playing in Steve Reich’s Drumming for percussion ensemble, piccolo, and voice, to Farrenc’s sextet for piano and winds, to winning the McGrenery Prize for chamber music for Mathias’s Zodiac Trio for Flute, Viola, and Harp, and performing as part of a RWCMD showcase for HRH the Prince of Wales at his residence in Mid-Wales.
