Gregor Riddell is a cellist and composer. He is a member of the Solstice String Quartet and Living Room In London. He read music at Cambridge University, composition at the Royal College of Music and recently held an Artist Residency at the Banff Centre where he wrote a large work for cello and electronics, which he recorded last autumn with producer Rob Lewis. He has written works for the London Contemporary Orchestra and, alongside cellist Torun Stavseng, recently premiered his double cello concerto, Sin Aliento, in La Paz Bolivia. He is a member of NMK and nu:nord for which his cello trio, Tre Voci, is resident ensemble. In January 2014 they will release their debut album on Slip Discs Records and tour the UK including a performance at Kings Place Out Hear Series. Gregor’s Emerging Excellence Award contributed towards the costs of producing his album Their Scintillant Blades. He is a resident artist at new East London venue Limewharf, where the launch for this release took place.
