British-Malaysian composer and producer Jasmin Kent Rodgman is a bold voice whose work traverses the worlds of contemporary classical, electronics, world music and sound art. Her work seeks to push the boundaries of the concert experience, often exploring themes of ‘otherness’.
Jasmin’s work focuses on cross-arts collaboration and interaction, celebrating identity and social engagement, often working with creative partners from film, fashion, dance, spoken word and VR. Drawing inspiration from, and engaging with many communities, her music is explorative and plays with a sense of narrative.
In 2018/19 she was a British Council PRS Musician in Residence, living and composing for two months in Lanzhou, northwest China. In 2017/18, she was a London Symphony Orchestra Jerwood Composer, writing new music as well as producing and curating for their 2018 season. Her music and live productions have been performed across the UK and internationally with partners such as London Fashion Week, World Music Festival Shanghai, Edinburgh International Festival, Wilderness Festival, the Roundhouse, Shoreditch Town Hall, Barbican, Oxford Playhouse and the Royal Albert Hall. Her film scores have featured at festivals such as Sundance, SXSW, Toronto International Film Festival and the London Short Film Festival.
2020 sees many exciting projects on the horizon including her debut EP, and delivering her brand new ‘We Tick Other’ Workshop Series for early career performance poets and composers in partnership with Roundhouse.
