Marked as ‘One to watch in 2019’ by Jazzwise magazine, 20 year old tenor saxophonist and composer Matt Carmichael is currently based in Glasgow and studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
Matt’s original music is inspired by his love of both folk and jazz and features Fergus McCreadie (piano), Ali Watson (bass), Tom Potter (drums) who all met through the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Scotland. They have performed at Edinburgh Jazz Festival, Ronnie Scott’s, Latitude Festival, Celtic Connections and had airtime on BBC Radio 3, BBC Scotland and Jazz FM.
Other bands and musicians Matt has worked with include Mark Hendry, Fergus McCreadie, Luca Manning, JM World Jazz Orchestra, Corto Alto, Tom McGuire and the Brassholes, Jonny Mansfield and Fat-Suit.
