By combining her exceptional singing, acting and composing skills Merit Ariane has become an artist, who truly enchants her audiences. Inspired by her German/Egyptian heritage, Merit’s music draws on Arab and western contemporary classical influences in her music to create a unique cultural dialogue. Merit’s current projects include her own theatrical one-woman-show 'Thumbelina', 'Zanubia', a performance of ancient Arab Christian chants and 'Woman at Point Zero', a newly developed opera based on the seminal novel by Egyptian feminist writer Nawal el Saadawi. Merit has performed at major venues such as Shakespeare’s Globe, Southbank and Barbican Centre and collaborated with well-known opera houses incl. Royal Opera House, Opera North. She is a professor at the Royal College of Music.
