Quest Ensemble is an exciting mix cultured, genre bending contemporary trio, carving their own path in contemporary music scene. A melting pot of three versatile composer/performers with a decade of making, re-shaping and experimenting together has become one collective compositional voice.
Preetha Narayanan (violin), Tara Franks (cello) and Filipe Sousa (piano)- write together in complete collaboration creating new music that pushes the boundaries of the classical piano trio set up, sitting in a truly unique musical landscape between chamber, jazz, folk, electronic and 21stC contemporary classical music.
Never shying away from a haunting melody yet holding onto an internal infectious rhythmic drive, Quest Ensemble weaves together a lyrical tapestry of acoustic sound, seamlessly blending improvisation with devised composition.
Drawing on influences as broad as the contemporary minimalism of John Adams and Steve Reich the experimental melancholic textures of Radiohead and progressive jazz precision of Brad Mehldau, Quest Ensemble has created a distinctive sound that is entirely their own.
