Rebecca Toal currently holds a scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music, where she is studying with Mark David, Gareth Small and Bob Farley for her Master of Arts degree. She recently took part in the London Sinfonietta Academy, as well as the Britten-Pears Brass Elements and orchestral courses. In her first few months at the Royal Academy, Rebecca has already played in masterclasses with Reinhold Friedrich, Huw Morgan and Jeroen Berwaerts, as well as performing Bruckner’s Fourth Symphony as principal trumpet. During her undergraduate studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (from which she graduated with a first class honours degree), Rebecca successfully auditioned for first trumpet in Mahler’s Fifth Symphony with the Symphony Orchestra, performed in the UK premiere of Wen Deqing’s opera The Wager in collaboration with the Shanghai Opera House, and played alongside musicians from the Academy of Ancient Music in the Deal Festival. In 2017, she also performed the Arutiunian Trumpet Concerto with the Bristol Youth Orchestra.
Rebecca is extremely grateful to be a Help Musicians UK Ian Fleming Award holder and supported by the Countess of Munster Musical Trust.
