Robin trained at St.Mary's Music School, Edinburgh, and the Royal Academy of Music, London. Based in Edinburgh, he has free-lanced as a cellist since the early '90's, and over the last 20 years has worked extensively in theatre and dance - many times as composer.

Film score: ‘Repose’ (Fortsunlight animation, at ‘Burns Homecoming’, Kilmarnock Dick Institute).

Robin has played with the Orchestra of Scottish Ballet, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Steve Kettley's Odd Times, DPJ Ensemble, Dalriada, Electric Avenue Band. He also performs regularly in recital and chamber music contexts, most recently with the newly formed Trio Pantoum.
As a member of the duo Various Moons performing the songs of Colin Donati, he has appeared at Celtic Connections, the MacLellan Arts Festival on Arran, the Anstruther Harbour Festival, and several times at the Edinburgh Fringe, etc....
Robin has workshopped with, composed for, and performed with people with learning disabilities under the auspices of benchtours, Indepen-Dance, and Amici. He teaches cello at St.Andrews and Edinburgh Napier Universities.
