Oxford-born, Glasgow-residing Diatonic Button Accordionist, Sam Mabbett BMus(Hons).
Having an early interest in Traditional Music led to Sam joining the National Youth Folk Troupe of England. Collaborations with Welsh-born fiddler, Dylan Cairns-Howarth, resulted in the release of two CD’s, multiple festival appearances within the English folk circuit and becoming finalists in the BBC Young Folk Award, 2014.
Most recently, Sam gigs regularly with 2017 and 2019 Danny Kyle winners Northern Company and Malin Lewis, respectively. He also has extensive experience depping with bands – Dallahan and Grannie Brady to name a few.
His most recent project is with The Canny Band, who were the winners of the Battle of the Folk Bands at Celtic Connections 2019, Trip to Birmingham Molloy Award 2018, and Danny Kyle Award 2018.
Now deeply rooted in Glasgow’s vibrant Traditional Music scene, Sam hopes to continue his musical journey in Scotland.
