Scottish-Icelandic percussionist Signy Jakobsdottir is to be found regularly gigging, touring, recording and accompanying dance.
She has been developing her unique style throughout her varied career, creating groove and using unusual percussion instruments for texture, atmosphere and melody. Recent performances include James Grant, Yola Carter and “Scotland Sings Canada” for Southern Fried Festival. Her recording credits are extensive and include Capercaillie, Sharleen Spiteri and Theatre Stratford East (“Room” soundtrack). She has experience working with gamelan orchestra, contemporary dance and traditional folk music and has recently been developing her own compositional style and performing as a solo artist using drums, kalimba and loop pedals. She has toured the globe from Venezuela to Indonesia, and loves being part of Glasgow’s vibrant music scene.
