New Mental Health Survey Launched for UK Musicians
Today, the charity Music Minds Matter has launched a major new academic study into mental health across the UK music sector – and musicians are being encouraged to take part.
Delivered in partnership with Point One Project and Habit Partners, the survey is open to anyone making a living through music, including performers, composers, producers, engineers, educators, and those working behind the scenes.
The survey is now live. It’s online-only, takes around 15 minutes to complete, and responses are stored completely anonymously.
Why this matters
This is the largest study of its kind ever conducted in UK music. It aims to build a detailed, statistically robust picture of mental health across the sector, with a particular focus on the lived experiences of those working in music.
The findings will be used to:
- Understand the pressures and challenges musicians face
- Identify gaps in support and areas of need
- Inform the design of future mental health programmes and resources
A simple step with a big impact
Musicians often work without the safety nets available in other professions – no HR departments, no guaranteed income, and limited access to legal or wellbeing support. This survey is a chance to change that.
By sharing your experiences, you’ll help shape the future of mental health support for musicians across the UK.

It’s quick, anonymous, and takes just 15 minutes.
Help Musicians is proud to support Music Minds Matter in raising awareness of this important research. We encourage all musicians to take part and help build a healthier, more supportive music industry.
