Welcoming Lorna Clarke and Stephanie Haughton-Campbell to Board of Trustees
BBC and UK Music leaders join Help Musicians’ Board
We are extremely pleased to announce the appointment of both Lorna Clarke and Stephanie Haughton-Campbell to our Board of Trustees.
Lorna Clarke, BBC Director of Music, brings decades of experience in music broadcasting, with a deep understanding of artists’ needs across genres, platforms and career stages. Stephanie Haughton-Campbell, Chief Operating Officer at UK Music, has extensive expertise in organisational culture and development in the creative industries — insight that will help drive forward our mission to build a more inclusive and supportive environment for all musicians.
Stephanie Haughton-Campbell, Chief Operating Officer, UK Music, said: “It is easy to say that joining the Help Musicians Board is a great honour. The work of this fantastic charity supports musicians during episodes of financial difficulty and nurtures outstanding creative talent to achieve the true highs in their careers.
Their appointments come at a very significant and exciting time for us. In 2024, we used insight from the first-ever UK Musicians’ Census to launch new services that respond to the evolving challenges and opportunities musicians face in the UK after COVID. Over £1 million was invested into initiatives that included health and welfare assistance and new types of career development support.
Understanding that there’s no single path to success in music, we delivered a wide range of programmes, awards and events. Our Co-Pilot mentoring programme connected musicians with established industry experts; our business skills workshops built confidence and capacity amongst musicians to navigate different parts of the music industry; our awards offered financial assistance to seize opportunities and embark on new creative projects; our hearing health service provided 2,149 musicians with hearing protection — an essential service to prevent career-ending conditions before they arise.
In total we delivered over 17,000 individual interventions last year to support the lives, wellbeing, and careers of musicians across the UK. We expect that the scale of need will continue to grow, and with the guidance and insight of our Board we are committed to meeting that need with ambition, care, and innovation.
