Acutek is a Techno Artist from the rural Highlands of Scotland. An ambassador for Scottish nightlife, the ‘Flick’ frontman has been championed for his contribution to the scene in his hometown and further afield.
With over a decade of musical experience, Acutek’s palate can be described as an ethereal Techno with rough edges. Citing inspiration from Slam, Petrichor, Frai.zer, Pan-Pot and more, atmospheric spaces and storytelling breaks are met frequently by gritty and potent grooves in abundance.
An esteemed producer, Acutek has already achieved commendable success within a relatively short period. His 2018 release on Biotech Recordings topped the Beatport ‘Hard Techno’ chart and was supported by the likes of Luigi Madonna, Christian Valera, Mark EG & TKNO among others. Acutek also has releases on Gibbon Records, Unknown Territory and Space City Recordings to boot, with several others lying in wait.
A frequent feature at many of Scotland’s burgeoning Techno venues and festivals including The Tunnels, Mash House, Bongo Club, Ironworks, Belladrum Festival, Mugstock Festival - Acutek has already had the pleasure of supporting some of the industry’s finest names. Jasper James, Jay Lumen, T78, Ramiro Lopez, Gary Beck, Mark Broom, Pleasurekraft and Tommy Four Seven being just some of the artists to feature on the same lineup as the Forres native.
A talisman student of Glasgow’s revered SubSine Academy (dubbed ‘Soma Skool’ by many), Acutek has often rubbed shoulders with some of Techno’s most-celebrated artists whilst learning the tools of the trade. He has also invested his efforts into the globally-acclaimed Toolroom Academy, with the quality of his productions growing in stature at an exponential rate.
Using his ‘Flick’ event brand as a platform to further develop his reputation within the industry along with more releases and bookings in the pipeline, Acutek is planting all the right seeds to enable him to grow into a household name within the Techno universe.
HMUK is providing support for me to complete 2 courses at Sub-Sine Academy. The first is focused on Live Performance with Ableton and instruments with guidance from Soma Records Artist, Petrichor.
The second course is focusing on my music production using a variety of hardware instruments and software to make the most of my available tools.
These two courses together help with my creative and professional development to take not only my music production to the next level but also the art of a unique live performance.
Acutek was also supported by the Transmission Fund in 2018.
