Singer, songwriter and musician Amahla taps into an era before her time to create vintage-inspired soul music. Amahla is most influenced by the musicianship and social commentary of the classic soul/jazz catalogue a la Etta James and Sam Cooke. Her debut single "Old Soul" received acclaim from both underground and mainstream outlets, most notably BBC 6's Tom Robinson. Amahla made her Jazz Cafe debut in May after starting a residency on the prestigious Roundhouse artist Residency scheme. In September Amahla was named by Madison Square Garden London as one of the cities best new artists and was awarded the PRS Lynsey De Paul Prize for her exceptional voice and songwriting. Amahla rounds off a great year as a recipient of the MOBO X Help Musicians fund all before she drops her debut EP ‘Consider This’ in February 2019. If she isn’t already, Amahla will be on your radar soon.
