Waterford born jazz and soul singer Carrie Baxter is one of the most exciting artists coming from the bubbling underground music scene. Her style combines her love for Jazz, Soul and golden era Hip Hop. Carrie swapped the Green Isle for the big smoke of London in 2009 when she moved to study at the London School of Musical Theatre. Having started as a songwriter and topliner in the dance music scene. Carrie’s Dance music collaborations, of which she operates under the moniker "Cecelia" has led her to working with Spinnin Records, Musical Freedom and many more including a whopping 7.5 million streams on Spotify.

In Late 2019, Carrie decided it was time for her own project to take the spotlight. She exploded onto the music scene in October 2019 with her debut single “Lady” which saw Carrie make National Print press in her native Ireland, gain support from BBC Introducing, feature in the 2019 BBC Introducing Hot List and regularly hit the airways in both the UK and Ireland including BBC Radio1 Xtra and RTE 2fm.

Since she started to release, Carrie has been heavily championed by Spotify with every release being featured New Music Friday UK. In January 2020 Carrie released “Love me Better” swiftly featured on several more Spotify editorial playlists including R&B UK, JAZZ UK, A Breath of fresh Éire, Nightcap & Fresh Finds along with support from Colours Studio and Mahogany. Carrie featured on BBC Introducing London whilst simultaneously gaining support from Jazz FM as a featured track of the week on John Osborne’s Sunday show as well as becoming the cover of Spotify's coveted "New Éire" playlist. After attracting much attention from the release Carrie was approached to play several live shows which have all been sold out. This was swiftly followed by a potential partnership offer with Live Nation and MCD Ireland moving into the second half of this year, with her headline show being pushed to April 2021. Further to the whirlwind of 2020, Carrie has been hotly tipped by Hot Press Magazine Ireland who featured her in Februarys, March and April’s A&R department print addition. Her hotly tipped debut EP Placebo arrived in June with the lead track hitting Spotify’s New Music Friday UK and Turkey. The EP has garnered over 300,000 plays since release. In September Carrie was approached by FrtyFve Records to cover Billie Eilish’s latest hit “My Future”which saw carrie reach 14k streams in the first week. Every single piece of work that has been released this year has been funded, curated, directed and pieced together by Carrie.It is set to be a career defining couple of years for this incredible talent who is regularly being compared with the likes of Amy Winehouse and Erykah Badu.
With support from The MOBO Help Musicians Fund I will be making my second EP due for release before the summer. Alongside this I will be hiring external PR to help with promotion of the project both in Ireland and the UK. I will also be receiving help with Social media and marketing through the course offerings.
