Catherine is from Heald Green, Greater Manchester where she began playing the cornet in brass bands at the age of 12 at her local youth organisation, Stockport. Catherine soon progressed through the bands until leaving at the age of 18 as their principal cornet player. She soon changed to learning orchestral and trumpet repertoire when she attended her sixth form, Xaverian College. Currently in her final year at the newly appointed Royal Birmingham Conservatoire after being awarded an annual scholarship, Catherine is studying trumpet performance under Jonathan Holland, Alan Thomas and Andrew Stone-Fewings as well as Richard Thomas for the natural trumpet. After auditioning for two orchestral schemes in September 2017 Catherine was successful and was accepted on to both the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra training scheme and the Birmingham Royal Ballet side by side scheme. As of September 2018 Catherine will be taking up her place at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama on their Orchestral Artistry course, in association with the London Symphony Orchestra. She will be under the tuition of Paul Beniston, Will O'Sullivan and Anne McAneny during her time studying in London. Catherine is also a Help Musicians UK Postgraduate Award Holder.
