Dave is a professional sound engineer, producer and musician based in Dumfries, Scotland. Dave began his career in 2006 as a live sound engineer, mixing local and national shows. Throughout a decade involved in this work, he was able to carry out work at a high level with highlights including nationally recognised festivals - Reading & Leeds, Radio 1's Big Weekend, Shetland Folk Festival and The Great Escape, as well as a whole host of one-off shows and tours.

As a result of high profile work, artistes began approaching Dave to record and produce records for them, drawn to him for a "live" and "raw" sound. He began recording on-location with a portable rig, hiring cottages and town halls throughout Scotland. Honing his craft as a recording engineer and producer throughout this time, Dave eventually took the plunge and opened a bricks and mortar studio in 2016, in which to base his engineering, production and playing work. From his space at Circa 16 Sound Recording, Dave currently produces records for solo singer-songwriters, bands and ensembles in a range of circumstances from humble DIY musicians through to major label artistes. This work regularly achieves national airplay on the likes of Amazing Radio, and BBC 6Music and has supported international touring campaigns and record deals for the artistes involved.

Help Musicians will be supporting a professional development series of tuition and skills sharing sessions. The sessions will be delivered by contemporaries and peers, and will cover a range of production areas such as writing, arrangement, programming and sample based electronic production. Up-skilling in these areas will be key in supporting a shift in practice to more remote working.
