Award-winning Latvian jazz singer Jekaterina Sarigina is currently pursuing postgraduate studies at the prestigious New England Conservatory in Boston, USA, with Dominique Eade and Ken Schaphorst.
Prior to moving to US, Jekaterina’s American Songbook project has taken her to perform at Pori Jazz festival in Finland, Rigas Ritmi festival in Latvia and Battle of Ideas festival in London, as well as at the smaller music venues in UK, France and Baltic countries. In 2019 Jekaterina has released a debut EP ‘Day One’ featuring original contemporary vocal jazz music, which is available on Bandcamp.
Having lived in London, UK, for nine years she studied vocal improvisation and jazz tradition at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London with Brigitte Beraha and Scott Stroman. Her clear tone and expressive interpretation has earned her awards in the following vocal jazz competitions: Jazz Voices 2011 in Lithuania and Voicingers 2012 in Poland. In January 2018 Jekaterina has travelled to South Africa to participate in a highly selective UNISA International Voice Competition.
Growing up in Riga, Latvia, Jekaterina participated in several large scale productions, such as ‘Les Miserables’, ‘’, Eurovision National Song Selection, as well as recorded and toured with the award-winning multi-disciplinary ensemble ‘Nature Concerthall’. In addition to that she has also worked with various Latvian celebrities as a supporting vocalist.
Jekaterina is also a dynamic educator and has taught contemporary singing in British private and state schools.
I will be attending Estill Voice Training Level I & II courses in April 2020.
